The pop-out chat link no longer uses the old style chat.
However, it is still a nice way to save on memory and be able to refresh
without losing both chat and video. The easiest way to do this is to open the pop-out chat in a browser window. Log in. (Type a period in the chat line—hit enter. This will open the login screen.) Size this chat window to equal about 1/3 of your desktop space. Then open a new window or tab (Ctrl-T or Ctrl-N in most browsers) and use it to open the pop-out video. If you opened a new tab, you can then click on the tab and drag it to an open space on your desktop. Size it to about 2/3 of your desktop space beside the chat. Now you have both open and can refresh one without disturbing the other. You can resize either without resizing the other. I hope this helps. |

Pop-Out |
If you want to view the chat or video in pop-out screens, use the links below. Some find that this places less stress on their computer and/or its memory. |

If you use the pop-out links, it is recommended that you open two browser windows. That way, if one needs to be refreshed, the other is not affected. |

Vaca Blog |
Hello Vriends, | ||
Well, it looks like a lot of folks are away or busy this
weekend, and with some upcoming engagement, it looks like our
next opportunity for a broadcast will be Sunday, June 5th.So
make planz to come on by that afternoon, do some writing, and
then I'll be along with Zorro and we'll have lots of videos and
goodies to share!
This weekend has been an interesting. Thanks to some cost-cutting by the city of Vacaville, we are dealing with an insect infestation--cockroaches, in particular. So far I've been able to keep them mostly out of the house, but they are all out in the street and driveway in the front of the house. I have lines of diatomaceous earth laid down in a perimeter around the house. It looks like we are hosting a baseball game here or something. I threatened to draw a pentagram in the driveway just to mess with the neighbors, but Mary vetoed that idea. So that's been my Sunday. However, yesterday was a whole lot of fun. I went to Dixon to attend the 20th annual Pin-A-Go-Go event. That is what can only be described as a Pinball convention. Everybody brings their working machines and they line them up in three buildings at the Dixon fairgrounds, and you pay $25 for the day and you can just walk up and play any machine you want. All day long. I played for about seven hours straight, and I have got the aching hands, wrists, and fingers to prove it! But man o man, that was so much fun! But of course the high point for me was the fact that they had not one, but TWO working Future Spa machines. Between those two machines, I probably spent a full hour playing Future Spa--and I had not played a single game of it since 1982. That was my favorite pinball machine of all time back in the day. I played it soooo much when I was at college. So it was really amazing to be able to get a chance to play the old girl again after all these years. Yes, I don't know if I have ever mentioned it before, but I was a HUGE fan of playing pinball and shooting pool back when I was at college. Once I got into the working world, I didn't partake much at all. However, I still enjoy shooting a good game of pool (though I am extremely out of practice). but as for pinball, I just haven't had much opportunity. The games today are so complicated and expensive. It used to be it was five balls for a quarter. Now it is 50 cents or a dollar per play, and it's only three balls! So it was really great to get a chance to play on some of my old favorites. In addition to Future Spa, I played Space Shuttle, Flash Gordon, Eight Ball Deluxe, Black Knight, Harlem Globetrotters...and many more. So today my wrists are sore, but my heart is full. :) I only heard about the event because I had entered my photos in the Dixon May Fair this year. In the process of doing that, I started seeing signs talking about the event the following weekend. I can't believe I've lived out here since 2003 and I had never heard of it--otherwise I would have been going every year! Well, I should probably get back to work on my project. I am building a little light box to use for macro photography of some rocks and minerals. Sounds strange, but I think the results will be quite gorgeous! That's just some of what I shall be sharing next month on the 5th. Until then, we'll see you at the chatroom or in the next newsletter! |

positive. I’m getting ready to have a surgery to get a port. I will

Littleguys | UPDATE: (as of
10/25/2015)
Amazing what an injection in the right place can accomplish! My back
started really hurting over two years ago, to the point I couldn't
show my horses "in hand" when I would have to walk beside them, etc,
and it was painful to lean over to harness them. I was diagnosed
with sciatica, meaning the hole in the vertebrae where the sciatic
nerve leaves the spine to go to the left leg was filling up with
arthritis.
But the doctors wouldn't fix it in 2014 because the Stage Zero
Breast Cancer was more important. In 2015, cancer free, it was
time to fix the back. I did get that injection for the sciatica
last summer, and some relief, but that doctor told me something
no other doctor had told me. Half of the pain I was experiencing
as I walked, stood, etc was due to the sacroiliac joint where
the spine meets the left side of the pelvis. Got a shot, well,
three right in that joint Thursday and cannot believe how much
better it is to walk and stand. Why couldn't they do that two
years ago??? Not a magic wand, but so much better,

A Message From Zorro | StoryTime News | StoryTime Archive | Recipe of the Week |
Hello there, Everbuddy! | ||
Wow--I cannot remember when the last time I talk with
you guys! I think it was just before we went to the
Dixon May Fair. That was a really cool time--we ate
funnel cakes, soft pretzels, and the Dude even bought me
a much-desired corn dog. I had been craving a corn dog
for SO long! Well, he actually bought me two. That's
because I got one and we went on the Ferris wheel, and I
got so skeered that I got to shaking...and I lost my
grip on the corn dog. I sure hope that biker dude never
finds out who dropped it--it got him right on top of the
head! So that was a good learning experience for
me--that carnival rides and fast food do not mix very
well.
I didn't get to go with the Dude to the pinball place yesterday. I'm afraid my arms do not stretch wide enough for me to play any of the games. And that's not even counting the widebody machines that came along later! I guess I could get Zorrina and I could work one flipper and she could work the other. But that requires a lot of communication. And being able to see over the edge of the glass helps as well. I am hoping to get a chance to help the Dude with his macro photography, once he gets his light box set up. I keep telling him that passing light through rocks and stuff could be fun, but what about cheese? I would think that light going through some nice chunks of cheddar or gouda would be reaaally pretty! Actually, there is probably all kinds of things it would be fun to make pictures of that way. I'll have to put my thinkong cap on! Well, until next time-- |

Lemon Chicken |
|||
Ingredients: | |||
6 medium boneless skinless chicken breast halves (1½
pounds) |
|
||
Directions: | |||
Place each chicken breast half between two pieces of plastic wrap. Pound
lightly into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Remove plastic wrap. In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, salt. and lemon pepper. Coat chicken breasts with flour mixture. In a 12-inch skillet cook the chicken breasts in the hot butter and oil, half at a time, over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes on each side or until brown and no longer pink. Remove chicken from skillet. Add lemon slices to skillet; cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly browned, turning once. Return all of the chicken to the skillet, overlapping chicken breasts slightly. Drizzle lemon juice over the chicken breasts. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes more or until pan juices are slightly reduced. Top the cooked chicken with chopped fresh parsley. Serve chicken, lemon slices, and pan juices over hot cooked rice or pilaf, if desired. |
|||
Breakfast Pizza |
|||
Ingredients: | |||
1 20-ounce package shredded hash browns |
|||
Directions: | |||
Preheat oven to 425°F. Spread the shredded hash browns out on a stoneware pizza pan and press into a crust shape. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of melted butter, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake for 20-25 minutes. While the crust is baking, fry 8 slices of bacon and scramble the 3 eggs. Remove the crust from the oven and sprinkle with the scrambled eggs. Next, crumble the bacon and sprinkle it over the eggs. Follow the bacon with the diced ham and any other toppings your family loves such as onions, peppers or mushrooms. Top it all with shredded cheese. Return the breakfast pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes. |

ZEROTH
Pronunciation: \ZEE-rohth\
adjective
Definition of ZEROTH
being numbered zero in a series; also : of, relating to, or being a zero
EXAMPLES
"Many tall buildings lack a 13th floor, skipping from 12 to 14 to avoid that dreaded number.
Most buildings—at least in the U.S.A.—also lack a zeroth floor."
— Pat Murphy and Paul Doherty, Fantasy & Science Fiction,
March 2005
"… I teach creative writing, and I expect I've confused a great many students
with my
'tear up your synopsis' approach. My excuse is that I didn't start out as a literary type:
in my zeroth life I was a physicist, and I've always felt some sympathy for Bertrand Russell's advice:
'Say everything in the smallest number of words in which it can be said clearly.'"
— Andrew Crumey, Time Out, 27 Mar. 2008
DID YOU KNOW?
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to use zeroth, but the word, which was coined by physicists
120 years ago, does often show up in scientific contexts. (It comes from zero, which is itself from
Arabic sifr.) These days zeroth is frequently used to suggest a level of importance that is even
higher than first. Renowned Soviet physicist Lev Landau used zeroth this way when he classified all the
famous physicists according to the relative value of their contributions to science. He put Niels Bohr
and Max Planck, for example, right up there in the first class, and lesser-rated physicists in the second
through fifth classes. Where did he think Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton belonged?
They were unmatched, he felt, so they went in his zeroth class.
